So on Saturday 19 October we hosted our first Worship Open Day and it was absolutely fantastic!
But before I get into that, first a little about us:
We currently have 13 people involved in worship, split into 2 teams. I lead the one and Khaya Mbhamali the other.
We lead 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off.
And the team has mostly stayed the same for the last 4 years.
Years back we would lead 1 week on 1 week off and that worked well.
Then we changed that to 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off and I’ll tell you why…
Starting next week Monday, I’ll be posting an article each week titled “What your worship pastor expects from _____________” and then fill in the blank. I’ll be covering everything from the worship leader to the songword operators.
Hope these help you serve Jesus and His church better.
I came across the Worship Central Course material today an am really excited about running it with our worship team next year.
It’s a 7 session course which covers:
- Why is worship central?
- Encountering God
- Leading worship
- Releasing creativity
- How to play together
- The effective team
- The authentic leader
The course material has been made freely available to download and use, you just need to register your course.
I plan to kick it off at Solid Ground Church
in January 2012 and run it over 7 consecutive weeks.
